On March 24th Speedy & his bunch of misfits were having a grand time BLASTING across the semi-frozen
landscape near Pottsville, when Speedy ATTEMPTED to scale a nasty hill that I've ALWAYS bypassed in past rides. Not wanting
to slow the crazied pace , I made an error in judgement due to the overconfidence I had with my new sneakers
I installed on the mighty Kawasaki 700 V-Force.
So with only a slight hesitation, Speedy headed
upward towards the crest with supreme confidence in my quad's ability to scale this nasty off cambered & rutted trail.
The washout & bump at the bottom scrubbed my speed considerably , but not wanting to disappoint my speed crazed co-horts,
I churned upwards towards who knows what????? At first all went well & success seemed assured as my trusty quad clawed
it's way towards the summit. But as the V-Force slowed near the crest, the rear tires slip into the center rut & the V-Force's
front end heads off at an angle & UPWARD!!!! NOT GOOD!
As the quad stops & slowly begins to slide BACKWARDS
, I can't seem to grasp the parking brake before my AARP fat butt begins to slide backwards off the quad. By now the
quad is gaining backward momentum & turning sideways at the same time! BIG TROUBLE!!!!!!!! Sensing that the V-Force
CAN'T be saved & IF I don't bail NOW , I'll suffer major bodily injury , I slide off & watch the death roll begin
in slow motion.
It's real ugly as the first
barrel roll insues & loud cracking noises can be heard as those beautiful but fragil blue fenders break off & scatter down
the face of the hill. The final death roll is a fifteen foot front forward flip that ends with the V-Force slamming onto the
handle bars & then bouncing high enough to land back upright on it's wheels in the underbrush! WOW!!!!! My heart sinks
to my chest as I slide down the hill to see IF my day is done or not??????
